Pixo

Compress PNG images online, for free

PNG is a lossless format — there's no "quality" setting like JPG has. Pixo shrinks PNGs by reducing the color palette (fewer colors, same lossless format), which is the only way to meaningfully compress a PNG without converting it to something else.

How it works

  1. 01Drop one or more PNG files into the box above.
  2. 02Click "Compress" — Pixo quantizes to a smart-default 256-color palette automatically.
  3. 03Screenshots and flat-color graphics often compress a lot; open a result's "Adjust" panel to try fewer colors with a live size preview if you want more.
  4. 04Download each result, or grab all of them at once as a ZIP.

Tips for better results

  • PNG is best for screenshots, logos, and graphics with flat colors and sharp edges — it keeps every pixel exact, which is exactly what those need.
  • For actual photos, JPG or WebP will compress far smaller than PNG ever can, since photos have too many colors for palette reduction to help much.
  • If a PNG still needs to be smaller after compressing, try the Colors slider in its Adjust panel — screenshots and icons often still look identical well below 256 colors.
