Can I resize without compressing?

Resizing always happens together with a compress step, but the smart default is tuned to look right for almost any photo — if you want a different trade-off for a specific image afterward, use its Adjust panel.

Will resizing distort my image?

Not if "Preserve aspect ratio" stays on — the missing dimension is calculated automatically so the image keeps its proportions. Turning the lock off lets you set an exact width and height, but may distort the image, and Pixo shows a warning when it's off.

What's the difference between resizing by percentage and by pixels?

By percentage scales the whole image proportionally (50% halves both dimensions); by custom dimensions lets you target an exact width or height in pixels.

Tips for better results

Resizing down usually saves far more file size than compression settings alone — a good first move if a file needs to be much smaller.
Keep "Preserve aspect ratio" on unless you specifically need an exact width and height, since turning it off can distort the image.
"Fit inside a box" never enlarges an image that's already smaller than the box — it only shrinks.
