Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Pixo is built so your images never leave your device. This page explains exactly what that means and what limited data we do collect.
How image compression works
When you compress an image on Pixo, the file is decoded, resized, and re-encoded entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API and a background Web Worker. At no point is the image uploaded to our servers or any third party. If you close the tab, nothing you compressed is stored anywhere — including by us.
What we don't collect
We never receive your image files, image contents, file names, or any metadata embedded in your photos (like GPS location or camera model). Compression happens locally, so there is nothing for us to log.
Analytics
We use privacy-safe analytics to understand which pages and features are useful. Analytics events include things like which tool was used, the general size range of a file before and after compression, your browser's language, and the type of page you visited. Events never include file names, image contents, or anything that identifies you personally.
Local history on your device
The image compressor can save recent settings in your browser's IndexedDB so you can reuse them. This history is settings-only: no images, thumbnails, file names, exact file sizes, or image-derived dimensions are stored. It stays on your device, expires automatically, and can be cleared from the compressor.
Cookies and advertising
Pixo is supported by display advertising. Ads are not yet active while we finish building the site (Pixo is currently ad-free) — once they go live, we'll use a certified consent management tool to ask for your permission before any advertising cookie is set, as required in the EU and UK. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Your rights
Because we don't store your images or tie analytics to your identity, there is very little personal data to request or delete. If you have questions about this policy or want to reach us for any other reason, contact us at the email on our Contact page.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how Pixo handles data, we'll update this page and adjust the date above.
